All That's Left is to Love

Wow, yesterday's post about how Christians treat the LGBTQ community has sure generated a lot of great, constructive discussion (a little here and a LOT on Facebook), which is exactly what I hoped it would do. The comments have provided me with some more thought-food to chew on, and I hope it has done the same for many of the people engaged in the conversation.

So, for today, I am just going to leave you with a song that has been on my heart this week. I'm sure it's no surprise that it is by Steven Curtis Chapman, who is one of my favourite artists and who shares so much wisdom through his music.

I love you guys, and I hope you keep asking the tough questions and looking for answers, and I will, too. We can't just ignore them--they won't go anywhere, and the next time we look they will be sitting there like a wolf waiting to pounce. Or maybe just a puppy wanting to play, it depends on how we look at the process of change.

Have an awesome weekend! I pray that you will be touched by love this weekend!

All That's Left

Words and music by Steven Curtis Chapman, Brent Milligan

Slowly drawn
Moths to the flame
We think we're strong
We think we're anchored down
Then it comes
The hurricane
Down come the walls
Up come the foundations
We've been building on
And suddenly we'll see

That all that's left is to love
That's all that we have
That's all that we ever really had
And all that's left is to love
That's all that we have
That's all that we'll ever have

So let us look
Into each other's eyes
And read the stories
Written there between the lines
And take a list of all the wrongs we keep
And tear it into pieces
Let mercy be the only thing we're harboring
'Cause eventually
We're gonna see

That all that's left is to love
That's all that we have
That's all that we ever really had
And all that's left is to love
That's all that we have
That's all that we'll ever have

This is why our hearts are beating
To love each other
As we have been loved
Everything else is a fleeting shadow
But love endures all things, believes all things
Hopes all things
Love never ends
Love never ends

That all that's left is to love
That's all that we have
That's all that we ever really had
And all that's left is to love
That's all that we have
That's all that we'll ever have
All we really ever had
All we have in the end is love

Oh, the only thing that matters is to love
This is the only lasting treasure
Love endures all things, and believes all things
And hopes all things
Yeah, love endures all things, and believes all things
And hopes all things
(all that's left is to love)
